Entries from May 2007
2 weeks ago, while in the company of a couple of friends, I was challenged to participate in a mini-triathlon in 2008. In the heat of the moment, I accepted the challenge. The race will consist of the following:
Swim 1000 meters
Ride a bike 14 miles
Run 4 miles
I have begun the ardous process of getting ready for this grueling event. My goal in this endeavor is to finish - ALIVE! I’m already excited and so are my friends. In sharing this goal with another friend, the first thing he said was, “count me in too!”
If all goes well with the training, that is if I can be disciplined, my goal may change from just finishing to competing within my age group (which will be 50 at the time).
Nothing like a good challenge to get the blood circulating again. I’ve hit the weight room, mounted the Nordac, and have busted out the bike already. Next step is to jump in the pool and start swimming again.
Hoorah!

While in Gatlinburg, Tennessee for vacation, I had the opportunity to do something I love to do….jump from high places! What a rush! After jumping I was reminded of the Gatlinburg tower I had just visited that is nearly 300′ tall. I was dreaming of how cool it would be to jump from that height!

I can’t believe how long it has been since my last post! I went on vacation and returned to no internet access. I’m currently working on getting that back with more speed! I’ve got some cool pics from my vacation in the Smokies I can’t wait to post. I had the opportunity to do some bungy (sp) jumping. It was fun….even though it was only a puny 75′ off the ground.
I just finished a 3 day seminar on the gospel of John at Rochester College. All in all it was good. There were a couple of presenters that put me to sleep but they were balanced by the more dynamic ones.
I’m currently preaching a sermon series entitled, “The Church is the Hope of the World…When It’s Working Right” The last couple of weeks have been about what the church looks like when it’s working right. Like,
When It Is Loving and Not Hating
When It is Forgiving and Not Condemning
This week is, When It Values Truth More Than Tradition
I’ll be back full speed when I get that greased lightning internet hook up!
