“Do everything without complaining or arguing so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault, in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe….”  Philippians 2:14-15

Last Sunday at NewSong many people accepted the challenge to go 21 days straight without complaining.  The above bracelet is worn to remind us of what we are speaking.  When we find ourselves complaining, grumbling, gossiping, being critical or negative, we are to switch the bracelet to the other wrist and start the 21 day count over again.  This idea began in a small congregation in Kansas City, MO where Will Bowen is the pastor.

This exercise is proving to be extremely revealing as to how much we whine and complain.  The power for change will not be found in this bracelet, but in the Spirit of God who will empower us to be transformed and not just modified.

I am certain that old habits don’t just go away.  The only way to overcome a bad habit is to create a new habit that swallows up the old one.  Do anything for 21 days straight and it will be with you for life

I have found that many people are now struggling with what really constitutes a complaint and what is simply a statement of fact.  Legalism will not guide us in this spiritual endeavor, but rather we must listen to the Spirit of God who will guide us into all truth.  If this little bracelet will work as a reminder that we need to be listening closer to the Spirit of God and surrendering to His direction, it will have been a huge success!

There is so much power in our words!  You are speaking your reality!  What is it that you are speaking?  Blessing or curse?  Speak what it is that you want!  Use the power of your words to change your world!  Take the challenge!  You CAN do it!

The only times that I have had to switch my bracelet so far has been when I have been driving! Go figure! B4T

Happy to say that I have made it 3 whole days….but I don’t have any lips left, and my tongue looks like chopped steak!
Not complaining about it though! I like chopped steak!

I had to switch mine Sunday for what I am told was a sarcastic tone! Go figure! Although sometimes the bracelet does seem to get a little tighter than at others, but I am not complaining, mind you…

I was doing good until last night while watching the Tiger’s game! I had to switch and start over! How revealing that I would let a baseball game cause me to lose my peace….hmmmmm…..I knew this would be hard….I’m a bigger whiner and complainer than I thought I was….

Once again this morning in the car! I never thought of myself as having road rage, but maybe I am more of a road whiner! I just whine about the way others are driving but I am never tempted to run them off of the road. This is really beginning to open my eyes. B4T

…be sure to tune into this week’s lesson at NewSong to obtain freedom from that which imprisons and oppresses you on the by-ways and highways! It is going to be a fantastic day today!! So let it be spoken….so let it be done! (Tom’s revision of the law of the Meades and the Persians)

Raivynn…we all are what we say we are….in other words we speak reality into our lives. If we say it’s going to be a bad day….it is self fulfilling prophecy….if we say, by the power of God, it will be a good day, come what may, it will be! It’s amazing the power that is in our words for good and for bad. I hope you will take the challenge! Again, there is no power in the bracelets….the power is in the Spirit of God…find a way to focus on, as Paul would say, “Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault, in a crooked and depraved generation in which you shine like stars in the universe!” Shine Raivynn Shine!
