Isn’t it amazing, during this political season, that we are no longer simply American citizens? I am a white, male, evangelical. Notice how the news divides us all up into these pigeon holed categories? The white female vote, the black male under 30 vote, the soccer moms, the conservative white over 65, the young liberals, etc. The news divides us geographically as well. The south vote, the Midwest, the east, the west coast vote, etc. Who or what is dividing us? Is it the news media? Could it be the politicians that are working the demographics to get the vote they need? Is it us? It is troubling to me that we are so fractured. Is it beneficial to our country to be labeled? Are we a melting pot or a salad bowl? What’s our mission statement? Where is the leadership that will bring us all together as one nation, under God?
